The mind is in the likeness of a pine cone, which we carry as a representation of our pineal gland. Drawing a pine cone is a cerebral self-portrait, with the scales of all memories and all notions. It is our intimate, fatal compatibility with Nature. The wooden structure that houses the seeds of the pine cone in our internal ramification is commensurate with the natural destiny of our memory. Just as the spirals of a rose are equivalent to the limited revolutions of thoughts, so the whole of a pine cone resembles the congenital arrangement of fixed ideas.
